Whether you are looking for a nature lover’s retreat from which to hike, bike and fish, or just a secluded getaway to unwind, rejuvenate, and enjoy the outdoors, look no further than Mountain Stream Overlook. This is a new, architect-designed home with panoramic windows, serene modern décor, high-end appliances, plus an expansive great room that opens to surrounding nature. The home is situated on 50 acres of land, surrounded on 3 sides by the Nantahala National Forest.
Mountain Stream Overlook provides a long list of amenities few properties offer, including a large outdoor deck with fire table, sitting area, and dining table overlooking a scenic mountain and cascading stream. There’s also a nearby private camping pavilion with firepit, picnic table, and sleeping lofts. You can also enjoy the spring-fed pond suitable for fishing and hardy swimming in warm weather.”
This is a STRICT animal-free property (except those already living in the surrounding, protected forest).

[All of the homes managed by Highlands Vacation Rentals have Wi-Fi internet access (speeds may vary based on different providers), basic kitchenware and dishes, linens, and a starter set of amenities, including: 2 toilet paper rolls, shampoo, conditioner, hand and body soap (per bathroom); and 2 paper towel rolls, a few kitchen trash bags, a kitchen sponge, some dish soap, and a couple of dishwasher and laundry detergent pods. ]

Terrific!
by DeniseThe views and grounds are stunning. It feels really remote, but is just minutes from restaurants, shopping and all the charms of Highlands. The brand new house is beautifully designed, upscale, well-appointed and light-filled, and yet also wonderfully comfortable and cozy. We appreciated it being absolutely pristine, with lovely features like the large real wood-burning fireplace, the Viking stove, and radiant heat bathroom floors. Something of a germophobe, I loved the pure white towels and linen, spare (your very own!) white bathmats and white tile and fixtures in the bathrooms. We brought our grand nieces, ages 10 and 8 for a winter weekend, and they loved exploring the environs (those clever ladders in the camping pavillion, the fire ring, the rushing stream, the tadpole jelly sacs in the pond and the mosses on the dam). We visited the fabulous Hudson Library, Dry Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, hiked the Glen Falls trail and ice skated in the park in Highlands . . . while it snowed! A great off-season getaway. Can’t wait to return in season! Thank you.
