Mountain Stream Overlook

We booked this house for a short trip to Highlands and it was so so lovely. As advertised, the owners clearly took great care in designing this property and it has so many unexpected, fancy touches (i.e. heated bathroom floors!). There are great views from pretty much every room in the house, but I particularly loved cozying up on the upstairs couch for my morning coffee and enjoying a glass of wine on the back deck. The bed was also very comfy with nice linens. The location is maybe 10 minutes from Highlands, with lots of fun shopping and restaurants. Overall the house is a perfect blend of mountain living and luxury retreat and we will definitely stay again when in Highlands.

We stayed at Mountain Stream Overlook, and it is a beautiful and tranquil oasis in the heart of Highlands that exceeded our expectations! It's a very high-end home- from the moment we arrived, we noticed all the thoughtful architectural details, art and furnishings. At the same time the home is also super kid friendly and cozy. We roasted marshmallows on the deck firepit overlooking the stream and fell asleep to the sound of the water out our bedroom balcony door. The home is beautifully maintained with all of the amenities we needed. There are floor to ceiling windows and stunning views overlooking the mountain top and stream. The location is also ideal just a short drive to town, local hikes, coffee shops, etc. Overall, this house is a unique and special rental. We left feeling rejuvenated and can't wait to return. Highly recommend!

The views and grounds are stunning. It feels really remote, but is just minutes from restaurants, shopping and all the charms of Highlands. The brand new house is beautifully designed, upscale, well-appointed and light-filled, and yet also wonderfully comfortable and cozy. We appreciated it being absolutely pristine, with lovely features like the large real wood-burning fireplace, the Viking stove, and radiant heat bathroom floors. Something of a germophobe, I loved the pure white towels and linen, spare (your very own!) white bathmats and white tile and fixtures in the bathrooms. We brought our grand nieces, ages 10 and 8 for a winter weekend, and they loved exploring the environs (those clever ladders in the camping pavillion, the fire ring, the rushing stream, the tadpole jelly sacs in the pond and the mosses on the dam). We visited the fabulous Hudson Library, Dry Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, hiked the Glen Falls trail and ice skated in the park in Highlands . . . while it snowed! A great off-season getaway.
