Highlands Haven of Coziness

We loved Sue’s place. It was easy to access, close to Highlands and clean and comfortable. The bed was a king.and the set up with the washer/dryer, the well equipped kitchen and very comfortable sitting area were a plus! Sue checked in when we arrived and made some suggestions as to what we might enjoy. Before we arrived Sue suggested some restaurants. We LOVED Lakeside. Excellent food and service. We would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay!

The Haven of Coziness certainly lives up to its name. It’s a gem, very clean, and tastefully furnished and decorated with thoughtful touches like a flashlight. The heating worked well and, with the double glazing, the space was warm and quiet. Ours was a last minute booking and Sue was very responsive and accommodating, and following up to see if we needed anything. Not too far out of town, it’s the perfect getaway for a couple.

Loved our stay! Quiet location, super clean and well cared for. Hope to stay again soon!

Each year we come back to Sue’s place. It feels welcoming and familiar. Sue and Deborah are gracious hosts and handle any hiccups like pros! Until next time…

This was the perfect location for my husband and myself to stay for the bear shadow festival, since it was just up the road a little ways. This apartment was absolutely wonderful. It was very comfortable and very well furnished and stocked for everything we needed. We would definitely like to stay here again !

In a time of family emergency we really appreciated the prompt and friendly communication. We enjoyed a genuinely cozy, peaceful and well equipped accommodation. Would definitely stay again.

This was our second stay at Haven of Coziness. The location and set up works perfectly for our needs. Sue has made sure to have all the necessities for cooking or reading at home, a box filled with information on dining out and hikes/waterfalls, and is very attentive if you have questions. The Haven of Coziness really lives up to its name!! Perfect for a weekend getaway for a couple. It has everything you need, clear instructions, is clean, & has helpful recommendations about the area in their check in book. One recommendation for anyone visiting the Haven of Coziness is to not drive a straight drive. The place is at the bottom of a hill, so it is a struggle in a straight drive. This is not the owners fault, we just want others to be prepared! Thankful for this amazing stay!!

This place is awesome! Sue was quick to respond when I reached out and the unit was better than described! Perfect for a quick get-away for my wife and I! We’ll be back!

Perfect Weekend getaway! 2 hours to a little piece of heaven. Everything was as described. Property descriptions was exactly as described. I did not see if the wine on the counter was for us to purchase or have so I left, but would have bought or drank if it was a special thank you. I will stay again soon. It is a cute little cabin with a nice bathroom and cute little kitchen. A 7 minute drive to the Highlands Main Street. We really enjoyed the cabin!

This place was clean, cozy, and perfect for a weekend trip. We had a great time in Highlands and the location was close to everything we wanted to do. We will definitely be back.

"Great Apartment in the Mountains"

Had a wonderful stay for four nights in this apartment outside of Highlands, NC. One room garage apartment. Well equipped. Nicely decorated. Even though it was small kitchen was great. Location is perfect for those planning to hike and tour the waterfalls in the area.

We LOVED this cozy apartment in the Highlands. It was convenient and close to the town as well as a few hikes nearby. The apartment was clean and so cozy and had beautiful views of trees changing color in the fall while we were staying there. The apartment had everything + more than we needed for the weekend to cook a few meals ourselves and cozy nights in with wine and netflix. Highly recommend!

This booking was perfectly described in the listing. Owl Gap Rd is very narrow but we managed just fine. We plan on coming again. Very clean and comfortable. Very near Highlands, NC.

"Great Location and Peaceful property"

Great location, just minutes from downtown Highlands. Sue has created a beautiful retreat with everything you could need. The property is clean and well appointed, and so pretty, inside and out! From the minute we opened the door and headed up the stairs, we found a "Haven of Coziness" for sure! We'd book again when visiting Highlands. 

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were there for a short weekend for a wedding in.town and it was close by (7 mins to Main Street). The bathroom was great, partly because there is a ceiling heater fan of some sort that made showeing all the more better since it was a little chilly for a few days. There is WIFI available which we appreciated however cell service is spotty (depending on carrier I am assumin) in some areas. There is a landline just in case! Sure had great communication with me and even messaged me to ensure that I made it there. There's lots of great dining options along Main St, however, I do reccommend callin in advance to make a reservation - it seems restaurants get filled quickly there. All in all it was a great and comfortable stay for my husband and I. If we ever decide to visit Highlands in the future I am sure we will stay here again. 

The apartment in the perfect spot, tucked away and secluded but not far from town. Perfect place for two.

Perfect. Exactly what we needed it to be--romantic and relaxing. The place and mgmt were great. Very eary to get to, and good location as its proximity to stay. The place was clean and neat, with reasonable duties to ipkeep it for the next person as well. It is perfect for relaxation, romance, and restoration. I recommend it!

Had a great 3 night stay here! Appreciated the close proximity to town and the 2 hikes we planned. Perfect for a couple, this upstairs studio had everything we needed. When we realized we waited too long to make a dinner reservation for July 4th, we picked up supplies and grilled burgers! Thanks, Sue, for providing a nice grilling area and utensils. We highly recommend Haven of Coziness.

"Weekend Mountain Getaway" 

Lovely, well-kept studio space for individual or a couple. Private, with all necessary features & accomodations optimized to fit the space. CLose to town and great hiking spots. Sue was attentive upon our arrival, texting to verify we did not have any issues, questions, or need anything at all. Would definitely return!

Haven lives up to it's cozy name. The studio is well appointed, very comfortable and well decorated, and the location is amazing (7 minutes to Main Street!). One thing to note is the driveway is quite steep and curvy.

This place is truly a haven. The whole space was outfitted with everything we could ask for and was very cozy for a couple. We got snowed in but were able to cook full meals and enjoy the views from all the windows on the 2nd floor. Sue helped greatly in her constant communication, recommendations, and hospitality. She even came and salted the driveway to be certain we were able to get out. She was definitely one of the most friendly hosts we've encountered!The drive up to the place is also quite scenic and very enjoyable if you like twists and turns.
Overall, we had an amazing 3 day stay here and can't wait to visit again. Next time, we'll explore more of the hikes and surrounding areas.

Sue spares no expense to provide a clean, elegant, and comfortable experience. She has thought of every little detail imaginable that would make one feel welcomed and at home. With attentive and expedient responses, you will never be in need or want.

Sue’s place exceeded my expectations. The studio is far nicer than the pictures lead one to believe. It was very clean when we arrived. The studio has everything you need for your short stay, a small kitchen, a beautiful bathroom, both fully equipped! My husband and I got away to highlands to relax so we did spend a lot of time in the studio and did not feel as though it was lacking anything. The town of highlands is delightful, especially all dressed up for Christmas, I do however suggest taking the drive to cashiers for a nice cup of coffee at Bucks, our personal favorite! We would absolutely stay here again if visiting highlands in the future!

Sue’s carriage house is adorable! It is sparkling clean with a very functional kitchenette, a mudroom, laundry, and outdoor patio. It’s a very easy drive to the Highlands, situated on a lovely, wooded lot. The king bed was comfortable, and we had everything we needed. We would definitely come back again.

Loved the location and ease of getting to everything in the area. Everything was updated and very clean which made our stay great. Sue was so pleasant and hospitable and made our stay exceptional.

"Hidden Gem" 

Immaculate and comfortable hideaway not far from downtown Highlands. Great value. 

Truly a cozy haven! The studio was clean and very well appointed, with a full kitchen. The location is very convenient to town and completely private.

Wonderful getaway in the mountains about 3 minutes from ‘downtown’ Highlands.

Guests should be aware of the very steep and narrow driveway, which was difficult to traverse with my large vehicle. This would not be an issue for those with smaller vehicles.

For those older folks unable to easily carry luggage and climb steps, be aware of an uneven footpath around the side and back leading to the entry, and the steep steps to negotiate when carrying luggage upstairs to the unit.

The property is very private and in a beautiful wooded location, however, it is above a busy road. So when the windows are open, significant vehicle noise is present. When windows are closed with the air-conditioning running, the unit is super quiet and peaceful.

The check-out requirements were quite extensive, mandating that the recycling and trash be removed by the guests to be disposed of on their own, and that guests are further required to strip the bed and run the washing machine with linens and towels before departure. Even though a “cleaning fee” is charged...

ALL cleaning requirements should be the responsibility of the host and not the guest, and be covered in the cleaning fee charged.

I would highly recommend this property as it is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located.

Very clean, comfortable space in a great location. Perfect getaway to the mountains of North Carolina.

This is a cozy loft apartment for one or two people. The owner has worked hard to address any need you may have.

"Amazing and cozy romantic studio with a fantastic bathroom!" 

The Haven studio was absolutely perfect for us! It is tucked away and close to town and hikes and waterfalls! We loved the coziness of the space. The owners have though of every little detail, especially the fantastic bathroom and kitchen! We were welcomed by a beautiful bottle of wine and we will definitely be back again! Thank you!! Highlands is amazing!!!

If you are looking for a private place close to downtown Highlands, this is a great place to stay. The room is clean, stylish, comfortable, and has everything you could need. Host Sue thought of everything with extra touches to make our stay cozy and special- even a bottle of wine waiting for us on a cold, rainy December evening when we arrived. Loved looking out into the treetops and would love to come back in summer so we could enjoy the little patio and grill area.

"Beautiful, quiet apartment. "

I had an extended 6 week stay at the property and overall enjoyed my time there. The inside of the aparmtent is just as described online - beautiful, clean, cozy, and has a lot of amenities. It is well decorated and has been well taken care of. The only problem I encountered during my stay was multiple issues with parking. The owner has her staff park in the turn-around area at the top of the narrow driveway, which makes it difficult to get out of the driveway on weekdays. If you're just staying for a weekend you shouldn't encounter any issues. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Highlands Haven of Coziness. 

Sue's loft is perfectly located for a weekend of relaxing or exploring the Highlands area. It's just a few minutes away from waterfall hikes, charming downtown Highlands and lots of other outdoor activities. The loft itself is even nicer than pictured, with new and modern fixtures and appliances. It has everything needed for cooking (plus a grill) and it has all the linens, towels, hangers, blankets, etc to make yourself at home. Future guests should note that the wifi has a data limit as of this review (so no streaming movies, although there is satellite TV and DVD player) and the driveway may be tricky for cars with low ground clearance.

"Wonderful!"

A lovely studio apt. It had everything we needed-immaculate and great amenities. We loved relaxing in this "treehouse" type studio apt. Look forward to coming back. 

Sue was very accommodating and made our stay easy as pie! The place was clean, well equipped, comfortable, private, and just a few minutes from downtown Highlands. We would definitely book again!

"Great Property. Perfect for a quick weekend" 

We loved the Haven of Coziness! It is quiet, and the space is perfect. 

The Haven apartment has all of the amenties of a high end hotel! But it's private, clean and so well appointed. The detail is amazing! I highly recommend for a romantic getaway to the mountains. It's quiet and secluded as well as being convenient to town, waterfalls, hiking and shopping. The kitchen is adorable and the shower is dreamy!! We want to come again!!!

"Charming and immaculate studio apartment" 

Excellent location, 3 miles from downtown Highlands, quiet (some road noise in the daytime if you have the windows open) with a peaceful view into the treetops. Nicely decorated. Small but welll-supplied kitchen, full-size washer and dryer, comfy bed. I stayed for a month and loved it, and hope to stay again. (While I'd prefer a larger refrigerator for a long stay, it was manageable). Also noted in other review, you might not have cell-phone service here. Feature, not bug! Plenty of great restaurants in Highlands, of course. For dining in it's easy to swing by Bryson's (supermarket) or "Dusty's Rhodes Superette" (try the tomato pie) on the way in from town. SHort drive to the Cullasaja Gorge, and even shorter to Glen Falls.

We're used to having mountain places have a tad of a smell; not here. Perfectly appointed and maintained. We'll be back.

From beginning to end it was just right for us very well thought out space nice size bathroom all the comforts of home and more! Perfect size for 2 people great getaway but close enough to town and hiking very convenient! Owner thought of everything!

Fantastic place!!

My girlfriend and I spent a weekend here and loved it. The unit is definitely cozy and comfy and super clean, and has everything you need. The welcome bottle of wine was a really nice touch. And it's super easy to get into town for a meal or to browse the shops, but far enough out that it's quiet and you feel like you get away. Speaking of town, Highlands is wonderful. This is a great place to get away! Highly recommend!

Sue's place was amazing. We really enjoyed being in the mountains for the weekend. The bottle of wine was a nice touch. We also took advantage of the 'waterfall guide' and spent the weekend hiking to see them. Just close enough to town for dinner or anything you may need.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the "Haven of Coziness" in Highlands, NC. All expectations were exceeded!! We stayed during Hurricane Irma and Sue went above and beyond to ensure our stay was safe and enjoyable.We will definitely stay again in the future and recommend this place to friends and family. The "Haven of Coziness" is in a wonderful location - less than 5 miles from downtown Highlands. Great shops, restaurants, grocery - all anyone needs to be totally comfortable. Great, great mountain "retreat"!!!

A guest book for us to read/sign from past guests (all fabulous reviews). Adorable decor, a very comfortable bed, and all the amenities we could possibly need. Great place to stay! Sue has a great place to stay and she provides a lot of amenities for her guests. She communicated with us throughout the process and things were better than we expected. Highlands, NC is a great place to visit and Sue's cottage is a great place to stay!

"Wonderful Weekend!"

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Haven of Coziness for two nights without kids! It was perfect. The place is beautifully decorated with a modern kitchen and very comfortable bed. The apartment had great details (soaps, shower gels, lotions for him and her, etc.). It is only a short drive to Highlands and also to numerous hikes to many of the amazing waterfalls in the area. Sue was great to work with and made sure we enjoyed our stay (we even had a bottle of wine waiting for us at our arrival). We will definitely stay here again!

I normally stay in a hotel in Highlands but when most were sold out, I looked for alternatives. So happy I found this apartment. Very clean with all top end appliances and amenities. Especially nice to have a fully equipped kitchen with all you need for meals when you stay in. Secluded and private and yet minutes from everything in town. Sue was quick to help me out on my last minute reservation and I couldn't have been happier. I hope to return and will recommend to anyone visiting in the area. 

"Quiet and Quaint" 

This place was perfect for our short trip in Highlands. It was a great size for the two of us, had everything you need and more and is nicely decorated sparing no expenses on details. Sue was easily contacted and easy to work with, not to mention the place was way more affordable than anything downtown and probably much nicer. Note: there is no cell service inor near the studio but there is well working wifi and a landline available. Would definitely recommend!

"Romantic Getaway" 

My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend in Highlands at the Haven of Coziness! The studio is 7-8 minutes from downtown but you feel totally secluded. The studio was perfect for 2, had so many little details (lavender shower gel, books, games and DVDs, fully stocked kitchen and too many others to name) and the bed was so comfortable. The owner was so easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this studio and we can't wait til our next visit! 

"Lovely and homey" 

wow! What a darling little attic! My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway for my birthday, and it was simply lovely. It provided space to relax, feel at home and away from the hustle and bustle, but it was also close to explore downtown and the surrounding mountains. We had everything we needed provided. Being someone who is attentive to detail, I was aware that the attic is in the hands of very thoughtful people. 

"Wonderful studio apartment" 

This studio is appropriately named. 'Haven of Coziness' is a peaceful retreat and located within minutes to the downtown area of Highlands. It is clean, attractive, and comfortable. It has every amenity necessary for a short stay. 

My wife and I had a wedding in Highlands so we just needed a convenient location for the weekend. Haven was perfect. Brand new studio style with evey conceivable accessory. Because it's new it's spotless clean, but I suspect given how its furnished the owner always will keep it ship shape. Less than 5 minute drive to Main Street. We no longer need to search for the place to stay in Highlands for an extended weekend getaway. 

"Fantastic Find!"

This little apartment has everything we needed and it is so close to town. Not exactly walking distance but we really didn't want to leave anyway. Full kitchen, full bath, beautiful decor, treetops (I could tell there will be winter views when the leaves drop). We didn't expect it to be as nice as it was. We'll definitely be back! Thanks
